What is a Blue Meanie Mushroom?
The Blue Meanie Mushroom is a type of psychedelic mushroom. “Blue Meanie” is simply the common name for Panaeolus Cyanescens mushrooms. Blue Meanies Shrooms are a distinctively different species than your most common magic mushroom species, the Psilocybe Cubensis.
Panaeolus Cyanescens are grown in warm climates all over the world and earn their namesake as they become blue in color when damaged or bruised. They particularly thrive in tropical climates and they’re commonly grown and found in areas of Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Mexico, southern areas of the United States, and more. Most astonishingly, these little guys grow best in manure.
Magic Mushroom Family
Blue Meanies shrooms are part of the Panaeolus Cyanescens mushroom family, also known as Copelandia cyanescens. They’re characterized by having rich black spores that are smooth and opaque. They remain relatively small even when full-grown, as the mushroom cap typically does not exceed four centimeters and the stem grows to approximately 12 centimeters long.
The cap and stem are typically a whitish-brown color that fades to more of a grey tone as it ages. Blue Meanies’ gills start to grey and change to a darker black color as the mushroom matures. Interestingly, they don’t grow to a blue hue, but instead, turn a bluish color when they become damaged. Like many mushrooms, they have an extremely starchy taste and scent.
Panaeolus Cyanescens Potency
Blue Meanies mushrooms pack a ton of potency and can be more than two times as potent as strains of Psilocybe Cubensis. This is because they contain ample amounts of psilocin and psilocybin, two active compounds that are responsible for giving them their hallucinogenic effects. Because of the prominence of both psilocin and psilocybin, Blue Meanies are some of the most potent shrooms in the world.
